Corruption & Retaliation

Why I Will Never Stop Fighting Corruption

I don’t just talk about corruption — I’ve lived the retaliation that comes when you expose it. Through my investigative work with MuldraughRegister.com, I uncovered misconduct and abuse of power by local officials. Instead of fixing the problems, they tried to silence the person telling the truth.

A police official made threats about what would happen if I didn’t back off. When I kept reporting, those threats were carried out: I was hit with 104 felony charges for what should have been treated as a normal administrative issue — not a crime. That wasn’t about justice. That was about sending a message: “Sit down and shut up.”

My Story: Exposing Corruption, Facing Retaliation

I started digging into local government actions as an investigative journalist because regular people were being ignored, pushed around, and punished for asking questions. Through MuldraughRegister.com, I exposed what officials did not want the public to see.

Instead of answering those concerns or fixing the misconduct, certain officials chose a different path: threats, intimidation, and finally, a wave of felony charges meant to crush me financially, emotionally, and publicly.

This is not how America is supposed to work. No journalist, citizen, or whistleblower should ever have to fear being destroyed just for telling the truth.

I can’t be bought. I’m not afraid. I am unstoppable — and because I’ve seen what the system can do when it decides to target someone, I’m determined to change that system so it serves the people, not the powerful.
  • Investigating local misconduct Reporting on abuse of power, questionable actions, and retaliation risk in my community.
  • Threats from an official Warnings about what would happen if I didn’t stop exposing what was going on.
  • 104 felony charges Charges brought over what should have been an administrative matter — used as a weapon, not a tool of justice.
  • Running for Congress Taking the fight to Washington so what happened to me doesn’t keep happening to anyone else.

The “Joshua Ferguson Public Integrity, Accountability, and Anti-Corruption Act of 2027”

If I’m elected in 2026 and sworn into office in January 2027, the very first bill I will introduce in the United States House of Representatives will be the:

“Joshua Ferguson Public Integrity, Accountability, and Anti-Corruption Act of 2027.”

This legislation will be built around a simple idea: no one in government gets to bury corruption just because it’s inconvenient or embarrassing. We will create real accountability that reaches from city hall all the way to Washington, D.C.

  • Independent Investigative Entity: Establish a fully independent federal entity solely responsible for receiving and investigating corruption complaints — not just at the federal level, but also city, county, and state.
  • Serious Penalties for Corruption: Make serious public corruption a major federal crime with mandatory prison time, not just fines or a quiet resignation.
  • Protect Whistleblowers & Journalists: Guarantee strong protections for citizens, public employees, officers, and reporters who expose misconduct — including protection from retaliatory charges, demotions, or harassment.
  • Stop Retaliation & Weaponization: Create clear penalties for officials who weaponize charges, investigations, or the court system to punish critics or political opponents.
  • Lifetime Ban from Office: Permanently bar convicted corrupt officials from ever holding public office again.
  • National Standards & Transparency: Set national oversight standards and public reporting so citizens can see, in plain language, how allegations are handled and what was done.

Making It Easier to Report Corruption — And Harder to Hide It

Right now, too many people don’t report what they know because they’re afraid — or because they think nothing will happen even if they do. I want to change that. My goal is a system where:

  • Every citizen has a clear, safe way to report corruption, retaliation, or abuse of power.
  • Complaints are reviewed by an independent entity — not the same office being accused.
  • Patterns of misconduct are tracked, not buried in a file cabinet or lost in local politics.
  • Good officers, employees, and honest officials are protected when they tell the truth.

When the people can shine light on what’s happening in their government without fear, corruption doesn’t stand a chance.
